Bequests
Have you considered helping secure the future for those who will need home delivered meals in the years to come? You can join the Meals on Wheels Plus Legacy Society by including Meals on Wheels Plus in your estate planning.
The good news is that you don't have to be rich to leave a bequest. You do have to make arrangements about how you want to leave the bequest.
You can....
* Prepare a will
* Leave a percentage of the assets in your will, or a specific dollar amount
* Consider using assets for your gift
* Name Meals on Wheels Plus as a beneficiary of your pension plan or life insurance policy

Groceries on Wheels
Approximately 90% of those we serve live on a limited income and have difficulty making their small monthly check stretch to cover their needs. For many of these special friends, there is little money left to buy food once they have paid for housing, utilities and medical needs. It is a help to have a hot meal delivered five days a week. But they also need food so they can have breakfast and supper, plus all of their meals on the weekends.
The Groceries on Wheels program depends on contributions of food and cash that are specifically designated for this program. Your gifts of shelf stable food to stock our pantry would help us better meet the needs of some of our most needy clients.
Donations can be dropped off at the Meals on Wheels Plus building at 717 North 10th Street between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cash gifts are used to buy food at the Food Bank and from grocery stores having sales. Mark your cash gifts for the Groceries on Wheels program.
MEALS ON WHEELS PARTICIPATES IN FEINSTEIN FOUNDATION $1 MILLION CHALLENGE TO HELP FIGHT HUNGER
Since 1998, Mr. Alan Shawn Feinstein, of Cranston RI, has been giving away $1 million a year to agencies across the United States that fight hunger. Your contributions to Meals on Wheels during the months of March and April are used to match Mr. Feinstein’s $1 million challenge gift. The more money Meals on Wheels can raise during those two months, the more of that $1 million we will receive.
The Feinstein million dollars will be divided proportionately among all agencies receiving money toward this challenge. It is a great time to make a contribution to feed someone who is hungry in Abilene.
